Packaging infectious and biological substances

Transporting infectious substances (Category A – UN2814) and biological substances (Category B – UN3373) requires the use of approved packaging that complies with ADR, IATA and WHO standards. At ISOVATION, we design and offer a complete range of solutions to meet the logistical and sanitary requirements of these sensitive transports.

A complete range for every regulatory requirement

We support professionals in the healthcare, research and pharmaceutical industries with solutions tailored to each type of substance and each logistics flow:

  • CAT A packaging: multi-purpose kits for secure shipment of substances classified UN2814 or UN3373
  • CAT B bioshipper kit: turnkey solution for Category B samples, with compliant triple packaging
  • Biojars & CAT A & B primary containers: pressure-resistant containers for leak-proof transport
  • Infectious accessories & labels: regulatory elements essential to the compliance of your shipments

What’s the difference between categories A and B?

Infectious substance packaging is divided into two categories to identify the level of danger posed by the substances that may be transported:

  • Category A (UN2814 / UN2900): substances liable to cause serious illness. Requires highly resistant, certified packaging with triple protection
  • Category B (UN3373): moderate biological agents (blood, saliva, DNA, etc.). Tight packaging with specific marking.

Category A packaging, which corresponds to the highest level of danger, can therefore be used to transport a Category B substance. The reverse is not possible.

Our solutions take these differences into account to guarantee personal safety, sample preservation and strict compliance with regulations.
