Insulated packaging for the last mile is a box or bag that prevents thermal shock over a very short period of time. This can be an insulated bag or zippered pouch with a handle and a heat-reflective coating, an insulated box with an integrated handle, or a box inserted into a plastic or kraft paper bag.
It may be necessary to bring cold in a package, bag, or insulated pouch for the last mile if the outside temperature is extreme. For example, if you’re leaving the pastry shop with an iced log, if the journey time is extremely short and the outside temperature isn’t too hot, there’s no need for it. Conversely, if the trip is longer than expected, and the journey takes place during the summer, it may be necessary to add a small ice pack to your insulated bag to ensure the bag remains fresh.
