What is a 15/25°C ambient storage unit?
It’s a small, rigid block (capacity: 900 cc) filled with a special gel that keeps your products at room temperature, between 15 and 25°C. It’s also known as a “phase-change gel pack” or “PCM”. It is used to stabilize the temperature in isothermal packaging, whether for chocolate, cosmetics or sensitive medicines.
What’s the point of a 15/25°C ambient accumulator?
You use it when you need to ship or transport a product that can’t stand heat or cold. Typical examples: medicines that need to remain at room temperature, chocolate that melts too quickly, or even certain beauty products or laboratory samples. The accumulator keeps the inside of the package at a stable temperature, even if it’s very hot or very cold outside.
How does it work?
Inside, there’s a blue, biodegradable, non-toxic eutectic gel. This gel has a phase-change temperature of 20°C: it melts or solidifies around this temperature, enabling it to “buffer” temperature variations. The better your packaging is insulated (box with good insulation), the longer the temperature will remain stable.
How do you use it, in summer or winter?
In summer :
1. Store the accumulator in a room at 15°C until the gel is solid.
2. Take it out of the enclosure and put it directly into the isothermal box.
In winter :
1. Store the accumulator at 25°C, when the gel is liquid.
2. Take it out and place it in your isothermal solution.
That’s all! No need to freeze or heat it.
Is it reusable?
Yes, this battery is robust and designed for repeated use. It’s made from rigid plastic, with strong welds that prevent deformation when the gel changes from solid to liquid. It is also suitable for food contact.
Can we do some tests?
Yes, to validate your packaging solutions, you can run tests in a climatic chamber (simulating real transport conditions). You can check how long the temperature stays between 15 and 25°C with this accumulator, depending on the insulation used around it.
