We can’t hear it enough…the planet is getting warmer…
Even though everyone is trying to slow the process down, the temperature is slowly rising, and we can already see the effects on our snow peaks in particular.
And you don’t have to climb Mont Blanc to see that!
Provençals, turn your attention to our beloved giant…the Ventoux is less and less crowned with snowflakes!
Once again this winter, the Mont Serein resort remained closed for most of the season, unable to open its lifts due to lack of snow, and was only able to offer the pleasures of the slopes via the toboggan run for the very young.
Another consequence of the lack of snow is the direct impact on wildlife. Many animal species have disappeared from Mont Ventoux in recent years.
It was only after several weeks’ work that the solution was put forward and can now be presented. Isovation studied an isothermal system which, by covering the summit of the Ventoux, would enable fallen snow to be kept until April or May, so that the ski resort could continue to operate.
No, you’re not dreaming, the entire ISOVATION team has mobilized, as it is unthinkable for them to see the white hat of their beloved mountain, visible from afar and recognizable by all, disappear.
It’s worth pointing out that this project quickly won over the region’s players, as well as those of Greater Avignon, who are already thinking about how to support the company for what would be a regional, even French, European…world scoop!!!!
We also worked in cooperation with the COVE: Communauté de communes Ventoux, comtat Vénaissain, and the WWF.
After numerous simulations and miniature-scale prototypes to test feasibility, the next step is to carry out a full-scale test! If the test is successful, the solution will be implemented as early as winter 2024, and could rapidly be deployed in other neighboring mountain ranges, such as the Alps and the Pyrenees.
So let’s hope it’s a success, so that our beloved Ventoux remains crowned with névé.
Hundreds of linear meters of material are needed for the project to run smoothly: see photo below.

Phase 1 of the project (in red)
Concentrated mainly on the ski area, on the triangle: Chalet Liotard, Mont Serein campsite and the summit.
Phase 2 of the project (in yellow)
Extension on the south side, as far as Chalet Reynard.
The next stage in the roll-out of the project: an information meeting will be held on April 25 at 6.30pm at the Salle Polyvalente in Crillon le Brave (84410).
We’d like to thank our sponsors: EVEXIA, Les jardins du Colibri, Johanna Benchimol, Jean Louis Delongchamps, and Tino the Australian Shepherd.
